HOW TO INSTALL CUMMINS CCV SOTF
Tools You’ll Need
-
8mm / 10mm socket or wrench
-
Trim tool or flathead screwdriver
-
Flashlight
-
Zip ties
-
Drill + step bit (only if adding a new switch location)
What the CCV SOTF Does (Quick Context)
-
Uses the CCV pressure signal to change tunes
-
Common on 2022+ Cummins where OBD SOTF is limited
-
Requires CCV-enabled tuning to work
-
Does not add power by itself
Step-by-Step Installation
1. Disconnect Both Batteries
-
Disconnect both negative battery terminals
-
Prevents fault codes and accidental shorts
2. Locate the CCV Sensor / CCV Tube
On 6.7L Cummins, the CCV system is located:
-
On the top/front of the valve cover
-
CCV tube runs from valve cover → intake
-
Sensor is typically mounted in or near the CCV housing
3. Unplug the Factory CCV Sensor
-
Press the locking tab
-
Pull the connector straight off
-
Inspect pins for dirt or oil
4. Install the CCV SOTF Harness (Plug-and-Play)
-
Plug the male end of the SOTF harness into the CCV sensor
-
Plug the female end into the factory wiring harness
-
Ensure both sides click and lock
Do NOT force connectors
If it doesn’t click, it’s not seated
5. Route the Switch Wiring Through the Firewall
-
Use an existing rubber firewall grommet
-
Common areas: behind brake booster or steering column
-
-
Push the switch wiring through carefully
-
Reseal grommet if needed

6. Mount the CCV SOTF Switch Inside the Cab
Common mounting locations:
-
Lower dash panel
-
Kick panel
-
Center console
-
Factory blank switch panel
7. Secure the Wiring
-
Zip-tie away from:
-
Exhaust components
-
Steering shaft
-
Pedals
-
-
Avoid sharp edges and moving parts
8. Reconnect Batteries
-
Reconnect both negative terminals
-
Tighten snug (don’t over-torque)
9. Verify Operation
-
Key ON (engine OFF)
-
Rotate switch through all positions
-
Start engine and verify:
-
No CEL
-
Normal idle
-
No warning messages
-
⚠️ Do NOT switch tunes under throttle
Only switch:
-
At idle
-
Or steady cruise (light throttle)
Important Notes (Do Not Skip)
-
CCV SOTF only works with CCV-enabled tuning
-
Switching under load can cause:
-
Limp mode
-
Fault codes
-
-
Leave switch in lowest setting on startup unless instructed otherwise by your tuner
Quick Troubleshooting
Check Engine Light
-
CCV connector not fully seated
-
Oil contamination in connector
No Tune Change
-
CCV SOTF not enabled in tuning
-
Incorrect switch wiring
Truck Goes Into Limp
-
Switch changed under throttle
-
Wrong tune configuration
