HOW TO INSTALL POWERSTROKE CAC SOTF
Tools You’ll Need
-
8mm / 10mm socket or wrench
-
Trim tool or flathead screwdriver
-
Flashlight
-
Zip ties
-
Drill + step bit (only if mounting a new switch location)
Step-by-Step Installation
1. Disconnect Both Batteries
-
Disconnect both negative battery terminals
-
This prevents CELs and accidental shorts
2. Locate the CAC (Boost / MAP) Sensor
The CAC SOTF cable intercepts the boost/MAP sensor, typically located:
-
On the charge pipe
-
Near the intake manifold
-
Or on the intercooler piping
3. Unplug the Factory CAC Sensor
-
Press the locking tab
-
Pull the connector straight off
-
Inspect for bent pins or dirt
4. Install the CAC SOTF Cable (Plug-and-Play)
-
Plug the male end of the SOTF cable into the CAC sensor
-
Plug the female end into the factory wiring harness
-
Make sure both ends click and lock
Do not force connectors
If it doesn’t click, it’s not seated
5. Route the Switch Wiring Through the Firewall
-
Find an existing rubber grommet in the firewall
-
Common areas: behind brake booster or steering column
-
-
Push the switch wiring through carefully
-
Reseal grommet if needed
6. Mount the SOTF Switch Inside the Cab
Popular mounting spots:
-
Lower dash panel
-
Kick panel
-
Center console
-
Factory blank switch location
7. Secure the Wiring
-
Zip-tie wiring away from:
-
Exhaust components
-
Steering shaft
-
Pedals
-
-
Avoid sharp edges and moving parts
8. Reconnect Batteries
-
Reconnect both negative terminals
-
Tighten snug (don’t overdo it)
9. Verify Proper Operation
-
Key ON (engine OFF)
-
Rotate switch and confirm positions change
-
Start engine and check for:
-
No CEL
-
Normal idle
-
No warning messages
-
Do NOT switch tunes under throttle
Only switch:
-
At idle
-
Or steady cruise (light throttle)
Important Notes (Don’t Skip)
-
CAC SOTF changes tunes by altering boost reference input
-
This cable does nothing without compatible tuning
-
Switching under load can cause:
-
Limp mode
-
Overboost codes
-
Quick Troubleshooting

-
Wrong sensor plugged in (MAP vs BARO)
